Dal 2016 ASviS (Alleanza Italiana per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile) opera e si impegna quotidianamente, al fianco delle istituzioni e di altri importanti attori sociali, per promuovere e diffondere la cultura della sostenibilità e dello sviluppo sostenibile. Il lavoro promosso riguarda con una particolare enfasi l’Agenda 2030 delle Nazioni Unite ma si estende toccando gli ambiti dell’educazione, del monitoraggio, della valutazione tramite strumenti di misurazione quantitativa, delle politiche nazionali e locali, delle strategie e della trasformazione delle organizzazioni, delle istituzioni e delle imprese. Proprio sul tessuto aziendale negli ultimi anni si sta abbattendo una tempesta alimentata dal vento normativo che a partire dalle istituzioni europee (si veda fra gli altri la tassonomia europea, il movimento per la finanza sostenibile, la Corporate Sustainability Reporting Disclosure) sta con forza dirompente cambiando le prassi e i comportamenti in ambito di rendicontazione di sostenibilità. La trasparenza, la misurazione e il monitoraggio dei propri impatti socio-ambientali, le politiche di due diligence, la predisposizione di obiettivi a medio-lungo termini inerenti alla transizione verso modelli di business sostenibili e responsabili, oltre che etici, rappresentano oramai elementi imprescindibili non solo dal punto di vista della compliance ma anche e soprattutto dal punto di vista delle richieste degli stakeholder e del mercato, sia esso dei beni, dei servizi o dei capitali. In quest’ottica, così chiara quanto poco vissuta e compresa nella pratica in tutte le sue sfaccettature e complessità, risulta sempre più importante e rilevante approfondire queste tematiche con un approccio critico e capace di portare alla luce quelle relazioni non sempre chiare e nitide fra la sostenibilità dichiarata e raccontata e quella effettivamente praticata. Oggi fenomeni come il greenwashing rappresentano un vero e proprio ostacolo alla diffusione sana e sincera di pratiche e ideali aderenti a quella nuova idea di sviluppo e di società che trova negli Obiettivi di Sviluppo Sostenibile (SDG) un importante rappresentazione grafica ma soprattutto concettuale, oltre che necessaria ed urgente. Come viene dettagliatamente descritto nel presente volume il disallineamento fra i grandi o piccoli obiettivi di sostenibilità e le azioni concrete messe in atto dagli attori economici è capace di creare effetti negativi a cascata dall’azienda interessata fino all’intero settore. Questi approcci deviati inoltre sono capaci di annientare totalmente quell’effetto formativo che la comunicazione e la rendicontazione di sostenibilità hanno nei confronti di un vero cambiamento verso l’efficientamento, la transizione sostenibile e il ripensamento del proprio impatto sul sistema sociale e ambientale di riferimento. Proprio per questo motivo occorre oggi porsi delle domande in merito e comprendere nel dettaglio le motivazioni, le pratiche più comuni e i principali effetti legati a questi processi di rendicontazione poco o per nulla responsabile.
